Product review for the GW L.O.S. Markerlight. One of Games Workshops products released with 5th edition was the GW Warhammer 40,000 L.O.S. Markerlight. Today we're going to take a moment to look at this new gaming aid.
I love the fact that GW is trying to anticipate our needs and actually working on bringing out gaming aids. I just wish they would play test them first!!! The marker light looks cool! It has a big eagle on the side! It's very durable and feels good in your hand. This product falls to pieces once you press the button to use the light! The cross hairs the markerlight project do not hold their size... So, when you light something up only a few inches away everything is fine (don't forget that you won't NEED to use the light when your only a few inches away). However, any distance over about a foot and the cross hair become so big as to be unusable! Even on large tanks the cross hairs are just to big. For every foot of distance from your target the cross hairs grow half of an inch in size! So... At a distance of 5 ft (which is where you will need this gaming aid the most) the cross hair is a totally unusable 2 1/2 inches in size!!! That is BIGGER than my space marines!!! As another draw back, the center dot of the cross hairs fades out pretty quickly making it very hard to see at any distance over a foot. Skip this one guys! Go buy a regular laser pointer. It may not look as cool but, you'll actually be able to use it!!! Sorry GW! I love you when your right and I'll right you when your wrong. ~Hyde 07/12/08
