Post 2000 pts. Thunder Squirrels
Since I asked for this forum I figured I'd offer my list up as the proverbial sacrificial lamb. This is the one I've been running with great success but I see its weaknesses versus things like Mech Guard and Nids. C&C welcome and appreciated on how to improve it.

Saga of Majesty
Frost Blade
Thunderwolf Mount
Fenrisian Wolf x2

Ragnar Blackmane 260
Svangir + Ulfgir

Elites
Wolf Guard x4 155
4x Power Fist
1x Storm Bolter

Troops
Grey Hunters x9 190
Meltagun
MotW
Rhino

Grey Hunters x9 190
Meltagun
MotW
Rhino

Grey Hunters x9 190
Meltagun
MotW
Rhino

Grey Hunters x10 180
Meltagun x2
MotW
Wolf Standard

Fast Attack
TW Cavalry x5 310
Frost Blade
Storm Shield
Melta Bombs

Heavy Support
Landraider Crusader 275
Multi Melta
Extra Armor

Interesting list, is this the one I am playing on Monday? I'm not that familiar with the space puppies, so I'll have to check out the book before I can critique it too much.

It does seem to lack long range fire though, allowing anyone with guns to shoot lots of holes in you as you close in.

Do most people just take out your rhinos and then laugh as you walk through the mud?

Yeh it's this list or another one I have in mind that exchanges the wolves for long range fire power. I put so much work into my wolves so far though...

Most of the time people shoot the Rhinos but by that time the Grey Hunters either are in assault range or at least two of the three squads are in rapid range to mass bolter fire something to death. The Wolves tend to be ignored or run behind the LR which has no problem driving Ragnar and the ten Grey Hunters w/ Wolf Guard straight at something for them to crunch.

My other idea would be to drop the Wolves and Wolf Lord and some other upgrades and take two squads of Long Fangs which would look something like this;

1 Squad Leader
5 Long Fangs w/ Missile Launchers
Wolf Guard in Terminator Armor w/ Cyclone Missile Launcher, Power Sword, and Storm Bolter
Rune Priest (Living Lightning [Unlimited range Autocannon]/Murderous Hurricane [3d6 S3 AP- hit and units treat ALL terrain as difficult and dangerous], or LL/Jaws)

Total cost of that unit is 303 points (140 LF's, 100 RP, 63 WG)

Thundersquirrels whipped me good! Damn vanquishers.... Perhaps they will do better tonight against Whit's Demons.

Looks pretty good. If you can squeeze out the points, I like to give my Wolf Guard a combi-melta (or sometimes a combi-flamer) to go with their powerfist. Of course my guys are lucky to hit the side of a barn from 10 paces and I need the extra melta dice to pop tanks. :-)
